Dentures

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjoining tissues. Complete dentures replace all of the teeth, while a partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from shifting position.

With so many advances in modern dentistry, fewer people need to wear full dentures. If you have older dentures or think you may need dentures at Advanced Dentistry denture technology has never been better.

Types of dentures:

  • Removable partial denturesRemovable partial dentures are for patients who are missing some of their teeth. Fixed partial dentures are better known as “bridges.” They consist of abutment crowns fitted on the teeth on either side of the missing teeth and pontics connected to those abutments. The pontics resemble the missing teeth and form a stable, non-removable unit.
  • Complete denturesConversely, complete dentures or full dentures are worn by patients who are missing all of their teeth in their upper (maxillary) and/or lower (mandibular) arch(es).
